Individuals who enroll in PACE can be qualified for Medicare and Medicaid.\u00a0 The primary consideration is an individual\u2019s health, not age or income.\u00a0 Enrollees are required to pay a monthly premium, depending on their qualification for Medicare and Medicaid.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits Provided by PACE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly provides all medical services needed by a patient to preserve quality of life and independence, whether at home or in a community.\u00a0 The health package must provide for all Medicare and Medicaid services included in the State\u2019s health program.\u00a0 Some examples of services provided by a PACE center include restorative therapy<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>personal care<\/li>\n<li>counseling<\/li>\n<li>prescription drugs<\/li>\n<li>primary care<\/li>\n<li>social services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In general, medical services are provided at adult health centers but can also include at-home and other services an enrollee may require.\u00a0 These services include laboratory and diagnostic tests, nursing home care and hospital services.<\/p>\n<p>A medical team determines an enrollee\u2019s need for PACE services.\u00a0 The team is composed of primary care specialists, nurses, social workers and dietitians, among others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who Qualifies for PACE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PACE is a voluntary option.\u00a0 To qualify, a person must be living in a PACE covered area<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be at least 55 years old<\/li>\n<li>Certified by a team of doctors to require nursing home care<\/li>\n<li>Living in a community setting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Critical planning cannot be emphasized enough as the cost for elderly care keeps escalating.
